Marie Chandoha

President and Chief Executive Officer

Marie A. Chandoha is President and CEO of Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc. (CSIM), the investment advisor to Schwab Funds, Laudus Funds, and Schwab ETFs™, where she oversees approximately $216 billion in mutual fund and separate account assets as of the end of Q4 2012.
 
Prior to joining Schwab in 2010, Ms. Chandoha was the global head of the fixed income business at BlackRock, formerly Barclays Global Investors (BGI). Before joining BGI in 2007, she was co-head and senior portfolio manager in charge of the Montgomery fixed income division at Wells Capital Management, a senior bond strategist at Goldman Sachs, and managing director responsible for the global fixed income research and economics department at Credit Suisse First Boston.  She also held research positions at Morgan Stanley and The Federal Reserve Bank of New York.   Ms. Chandoha earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Harvard University.

Ms. Chandoha is trustee of the California chapter of The Nature Conservancy.

Omar Aguilar, Ph.D.

Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, Equities

Omar Aguilar joined Schwab as senior vice president and chief investment officer, Equities in April 2011. He has 18 years of broad investment management experience in the equity markets, including managing index, quantitative equity, asset allocation, and multi-manager strategies. Recently, Mr. Aguilar was with Financial Engines, where he was responsible for managing more than $40 billion in assets from leading retirement plan sponsors in the defined contribution market. Prior to joining Financial Engines, Mr. Aguilar was the head of Quantitative Equity for ING Investment Management, where he was responsible for building and developing the firm’s quantitative equity group, managing more than $20 billion in assets with 15 global active, index, and enhanced index strategies for pensions funds, variable annuities, and mutual funds. He joined ING in 2004 from Lehman Brothers, where he served as the head of quantitative research for its alternative investment management business. Prior to that, he was a director of quantitative research and portfolio manager with Merrill Lynch Investment Management and Bankers Trust. Mr. Aguilar was a Fulbright Scholar at Duke University’s Institute of Statistics and Decisions Sciences, where he earned his M.S. and Ph.D. He completed a B.S. in actuarial sciences and a graduate degree in applied statistics from the Mexican Autonomous Institute of Technology (ITAM).

Brett Wander

Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, Fixed Income

Brett Wander joined Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc. (CSIM) as Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, Fixed Income in June 2011. He is responsible for all aspects of the firm's $150 billion fixed-income and money fund portfolios, leading a team of 16 investment professionals (as of 9/30/2012). Mr. Wander has more than 20 years of investment management experience, focusing on the design, development and oversight of a wide range of fixed-income strategies and products, including core and core-plus fixed-income, hedge funds, absolute return strategies, ETFs and money funds. His expertise spans a range of global and domestic markets and sectors.

Prior to joining CSIM, Mr. Wander was a senior managing director at State Street Global Advisors, where he managed and directed the firm’s $30 billion active fixed-income enterprise. He has also held senior fixed-income leadership positions at Loomis Sayles, State Street Research, and Payden & Rygel. In those roles, he designed the investment processes, managed investment teams, and developed risk management methodologies.

Mr. Wander has published several articles on a variety of investment topics, including risk management, asset allocation, the analysis and use of hedge funds, the application of quantitative investment approaches, and other topics focusing on both theoretical and practical investment concepts. He is a frequent industry speaker, presenting at conferences and in various media forums. He has also taught MBA-level investment courses at the University of Southern California.

Mr. Wander earned an MBA from the University of Chicago, and a BS in System Science Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.
