Managing Director, Senior Portfolio Manager

Alfonso Portillo, Jr., is a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager for Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc. (CSIM). He is responsible for the day-to-day co-management of Schwab’s taxable bond funds (except the Schwab Short-Term Bond Market Fund and Schwab Treasury Inflation Protected Securities Index Fund) and the Schwab U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF. His primary focus is securitized products.

Prior to joining CSIM in 2007, Mr. Portillo worked for 10 years at Pacific Investment Management Company, most recently as a vice president and member of the mortgage- and asset-backed portfolio management team. He has worked in fixed-income asset management since 1996.

Mr. Portillo earned dual Master of Business Administration degrees from Columbia Business School and the Berkeley Haas School of Business, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Southern California.
